Located along Smith Mountain Lake, the community is made up of around 8,600 residents.
Originally, the town ran along the main traffic route – until a new bypass rerouted vehicles away from the town. New developments are intent on bringing back Moneta’s homey, old-town feel.

- Fine wine and a spectacular view—now who wouldn’t want that? Ramulose Ridge Vineyards has a wonderful selection of wines and cigars. It is also an excellent spot for special events especially wedding shoots. The vineyards’ reds and whites are available for tasting daily, from 1 to 6 p.m.
- Bernard’s Landing is a beautiful waterfront resort for people of all ages. Interesting spots with water-based activities includeSpike’s Prime Time Fishin’ and the various marinas in the area.
